Online Directories
Web users have free access to CREDEs three online directories. The product
of extensive investigation by education researchers, the directories present
detailed profiles of programs across the nation concerned with bilingual education
and with serving diverse student populations.

Programs (Preservice & Inservice) for Cultural and Linguistic Diversity
(2001, revised)
A product of Project 2.1 CREDEs National Study of Effective
Teacher Education for Diverse Student Populations project, this directory represents
a nationwide investigation of the teacher education programs that prepare educators
for the linguistic and cultural diversity of Americas classrooms. Produced
in collaboration with the BUENO Center for Multicultural Education.
Directory of Two-Way Bilingual Immersion
Programs in the United States (2001, revised)
A product of a long-term research project on two-way bilingual immersion education
in the United States, the current directory updates information that has been
collected since 1991.
A searchable database contains profiles of 260 schools in the U.S. with two-way
programs, which are found in 23 states and the District of Columbia. Five language
groupings are representedSpanish/English, French/English, Chinese/English,
Korean/English, and Navajo/English. Each profile contains information about
program size, student population, location, contacts, subjects taught in each
language, and assessment tools used in the evaluation process.
Directory of Secondary Newcomer Programs
in the United States (2000, revised)
The directory profiles 115 middle and high school newcomer programs in 29 states
and the District of Columbia. These programs serve recent immigrant students
with little or no English proficiency and often with limited formal schooling
experience. This directory was the first resource to provide a comprehensive
listing of secondary newcomer programs across the United States. Each profile
contains information on program location, size, and length of enrollment; student
demographics; features of instruction and assessment; program staffing; other
services offered; and program contacts.
