Audrey Sirota is a Professional Development Specialist and Facilitator
for CREDE. She has worked at several school sites in the southwest
as well as in California and Washington. She works closely with
teachers and administrators to design and implement professional
development programs for elementary and secondary school teachers.
The programs are individually tailored to meet the needs of each
school. Her areas of specialization include: literacy and mathematics
curriculum, instruction, and assessment; classroom organization;
design and development of learning centers; and the application
of CREDE's 5 Standards of Effective Teaching to classroom instruction.
Additionally, she has taught courses in educational theory as well
as literacy for the University of California.
Currently, she works with one of CREDE's research and demonstration
schools, Starlight Elementary School, in Watsonville, California.
Over the past six years, she has worked collaboratively with the
administration and teachers to implement a comprehensive, research-based,
professional development program. She has worked in education for
more than 20 years as an elementary and high school teacher, university
instructor, mentor and coach for new and veteran teachers, and professional
development consultant.
